Terrapure Community Liaison Committee members

brad Hart, Community Representative

Brad has lived in Upper Stoney Creek with his family since 2002. He has been actively involved in our community and is currently the President of the Hamilton Wentworth Association of Bright and Gifted children. Provincially, he sits on the board of directors of the Ontario Aerospace Council, which represents that industry in southern Ontario. He is the Division Manager of a large aerospace company and his many years of management experience will be an asset to the CLC. With his family growing up and attending schools in this community, Brad decided that being involved in the committee would be a way to ensure sound environmental stewardship is maintained in our neighbourhood.

Josie Bonaventura, Community Representative

Josie and her husband have lived in Upper Stoney Creek for almost thirty years. Their three children were born and raised in our community. She is a  retired elementary school teacher who, who after 34 years of shaping little minds, has found a small way to give back to the community through her involvement in the Heritage Green Community Trust. Upper Stoney Creek has undergone tremendous growth and change – much of it in the last ten years.  It’s difficult for such a widespread community to maintain its “sense of community”.  Josie has completed her 5 year term with the Community Trust and is now happy to be a part of the Terrapure Community Liaison Committee.

Kathy Lacasse, Community Representative

Kathy Lacasse originally moved to Upper Stoney Creek in 1986, in the original Albion Estates.  Kathy moved out of the area for schooling and job postings but returned to Upper Stoney Creek in 2001 and has lived in the Gatestone neighbourhood for the past 15 years with her family.  Kathy believes in giving back and has been an active member of her children’s School Council for four years as well as the Team Manager with her son's hockey team within the Stoney Creek Minor Hockey Association.  She has been the lead organizer and fundraising co-coordinator for her employer’s Around the Bay Road Race team for the past two years.   Kathy is excited about the expansion of the Upper Stoney Creek neighbourhood and feels it will bring many new offerings to the area.  Kathy believes in community and is pleased to be a part of the CLC to build a stronger community in Upper Stoney Creek.

Ilona was born and raised in Stoney Creek.  Mrs. DiCaro runs her own Administrative Support and Bookkeeping business as well as works as a Graphic Designer.  In 2016 Ilona returned to Stoney Creek with her husband and children after deciding that Stoney Creek would be the perfect place to raise her young family.  Ilona looks forward to learn more about the new developments that are happening in the community and surrounding area.  “It is important to be involved in the community and to educate ourselves if we plan on making this our forever homes”.

Sarah has lived, with her family, in the Albion Estates community since 2006. Her two children attend local schools and spend their time exploring the outdoors along the escarpment of Upper Stoney Creek.  As a student, she has earned a BSc in Biology from the University of Guelph and an MSc in Biology (Entomology) from Laurentian University.  As an elementary teacher for the HWDSB, she has been teaching science, primarily, to intermediate grade students.

Sarah is interested in joining the discussion concerning the interactions between Terrapure and the surrounding neighbourhoods.  By being a part of the CLC, she feels that she can gain a better understanding of the ongoing conversation.  More importantly, she hopes to communicate knowledge, concerns, options, and ideas with her neighbours and her students to include them in matters that affect our entire community.
